The USSBA is a
not-for-profit organization that is the sanctioning body for Jet Sprint
Racing in the United States. Currently the series stages events in
Washington, Oregon and Idaho, and we are looking to expand into other regions on the Pacific West Coast.
Jet Sprint Racing,
aka, Sprint Boat Racing has taken a stronghold on the Pacific Northwest over
the past 10 years with a strong fanbase and population-dense marketing area.
The sport currently stages seven events at three tracks. Two in Washington
state and one track in Boise, Idaho.
Woodland,
Washington is set to stage two events in 2007 and is located just 25 minutes
north of the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington metropolitan areas which
is one of the most densely populated areas in the entire Pacific Northwest.
Portland, Oregon
also stages the most attended, one-day sporting event in the Northwest which
is the ChampCar race held annually for the last 21 years, and an American Le
Mans race. NASCAR, like the USSBA, is searching for more track locations in the Oregon/Washington
corridor to serve this under-nourished population of motorsports racefans.
These fans are the
same people that attend and watch USSBA Jet Sprint Racing events.
Washington state
is also the home for the world renowned Hydroplane racing series that stages
several races in Washington and at various venues around the United States.
That being said, the natural connection between wheeled motorsports and
water-based motorsports is a natural for this region, and the USSBA is the
answer.
The main
Washington track is located in Richland, Washington, just minutes from the
Columbia River and where the Hydroplane series is run. The Richland track is
managed by the City of Richland and they are huge supporters and sponsors of
the USSBA events held at their track.
The USSBA Racing
Series is an non-stop, elimination-based, hair-on-fire sporting event that
is one of the most exciting forms of racing that exists. Using NASCAR-style,
American V-8 powerplants, our participants race 13-foot aluminum-hulled boats
around a small, 20-30 turn, water-filled, 10-12 foot wide track at speeds of up
to 80-plus miles per hour. Turning literally on a dime, the driver and
navigator can experience anywhere from 3-7 g's per turn.
The USSBA Sprint
boats run everything from regular gasoline, to airplane-grade-super-octane
gasoline to the ultimate methonal burning Superboats. The horsepower range
is from 300 to upwards of 1,000 or more!
Fans observe the
races from small grandstands, to awning-protected land-claims on a small
hillside to watch these 50-70 second runs. From their perches, they can see
every turn and the entire lap from one location.
The USSBA provides
professionally staged, safety oriented events which have been known to take
in upwards of 10,000 fans at the gates. Currently the USSBA promotes the
races in conjunction with the respective track owners, ensuring maximum
coverage for each particular market. The series has also been broadcast on
ESPN and SpeedChannel in recent years.
For 2007 there is
a planned, 80-plus television, radio and newspapers ads for each event,
reaching two million potential fans and customers. Jet Sprint Racing
attracts an extremely wide audience from Ford/Chevy owners to Jaguar/Audi
owners. From crossover NASCAR fans to ALMS and ChampCar/IndyCar fans.
Our sponsors are
featured prominently in our event advertising, website and trackside
banners. The sport is family-oriented and you will see grandparents,
parents, children, friends and neighbors attending USSBA sanctioned events.
Events are covered
and promoted by a wide array of media. From local news, TV, radio and
newspaper to several Internet-based websites.
